Drawing influence from Edmund Burke's description of the Sublime, Martyniak is interested in the hope and life that exists in the wake of death. Her illustrations incorporate themes of memento mori, post-mortem beauty, pain, and the process of healing, mainly through fantastical narratives. Her visual language consists of symbols and representations inspired by art history, mythology, and contemporary fiction. She uses industrialization and environmental elements to juxtapose the relationship between hope and despair, demonstrated in an endless coil of different iterations. Each piece she makes is a personal exercise in which she reflects on the phenomenon of death and what the Sublime means to her.

She specializes in glass and print. She finds their industrial and laborous processes appealing and they lend to the aesthetic of her work. They have their purposes exclusively but the combination of both yields fascinating results.

She also practices digital painting and illustration, which lends to the preparation of her studio projects. The images sometimes become fully rendered designs that are available for purchase on print-on-demand products.
